Rediscover & Explore
A Short Story and Discussion Program

The Program
This is a weekly short story and discussion program designed specifically for seniors, even those who have memory loss. There are enough stories for activity directors to conduct this reading program weekly for TWO years! Each story is sold individually and conveniently available for purchase at Amazon! Each story also comes with a discussion guide which corresponds with the story and is written in a way that promotes reminiscing.
Stories include historical events, biographies, folk-lore, places of interest and holidays! They are written specifically for older adults, and include educational content that even the leader will enjoy!

Testimonials
"In consideration of the short story program, I was encouraged by the response I received from the residents. The activity as a whole lasted the full hour and seemed to effectively engage the residents. Implementing reading activities, especially for residents who have disabilities, are typically very time consuming to prepare and these pre-formatted sheets made life a lot easier. The discussion questions were also very helpful and well structured, freely allowing us to go off script when appropriate. I would prepare this activity by having songs and complimentary pictures. However this was not necessary as the discussion alone would sometimes take the full hour if not more."

"We have had VERY good response with our (Memory Care) residents - quiet a few can do the reading and one in particular, a retired teacher, enjoys leading the discussion. I have really been impressed with the skills we have been able to tap into using this tool."

"My residents and I really enjoyed the stories. They brought something unique and fun to the program. I like the discussion questions provided at the end."

"I love the short stories and their easy to read bold print. (We've) had great results using them with one on one's and small groups. We have a resident Nancy who loves to sit and read them herself, the big print is great for her to see."

"I just wanted to send a quick email to let you know how much we have been enjoying the short stories and discussion trial here. I have been using it for both my small group and one on one’s, with some residents who tend to keep to themselves, and it really has been wonderful! In the small groups I have been using the discussion more so than with the one on one’s. With the one on one’s the residents have really enjoyed just reading and learning from the short stories. It has been a great addition to the program and I am so happy we were able to be a part of the trial because more and more residents seemed to be drawn in by the readings each week."
